Daisy Miller
Daisy Miller is an 1878 novella by Henry James.
Annie "Daisy" Miller and Frederick Winterbourne first meet in Switzerland, introduced by Randolph Miller, Daisy's 9-year old brother. Randolph considers their hometown of Schenectady, New York, to be absolutely superior to all of Europe. Daisy, however, is absolutely delighted with the continent, especially the high society which she wishes to enter.
Winterbourne is at first confused by her attitude, although greatly impressed by her beauty, but soon determines that she is nothing more than a young flirt. He continues his pursuit of Daisy in spite of the disapproval of his snobbish aunt Mrs. Costello.
Winterbourne informs Daisy that he must go to Geneva. Daisy asks him to visit her in Rome later that year.
In Rome, Winterbourne and Daisy meet unexpectedly in the parlor of Mrs. Walker, an American expatriate. Her moral values have become adapted to those of Italian society. Rumors about Daisy meeting with young Italian gentlemen make her socially exceptionable under these criteria. Winterbourne learns of Daisy's increasing intimacy with a young Italian of questionable society, Giovanelli, as well as the growing scandal caused by the pair's behavior. Daisy is undeterred by the open disapproval of the other Americans in Rome, and her mother seems quite unaware of the underlying tensions. Winterbourne and Mrs. Walker attempt to persuade Daisy to separate from Giovanelli, but she refuses any help that is offered.
One night, Winterbourne takes a walk through the Colosseum and, at its center, sees a young couple sitting there. He realizes that they are Giovanelli and Daisy. Winterbourne, infuriated with Giovanelli, asks him how he could dare to take Daisy to a place where she runs the risk of "Roman Fever" . Daisy says she does not care and Winterbourne leaves them. Daisy falls ill, and dies a few days later.

Birthday Numerology
Every number has a certain power that expresses it's connection to the universe. Numbers have relationships with all things in nature. By reducing an important date (such as our birthday) into one number, we can then refer to the symbolism of that number and then gain knowledge about various aspects of ourselves and our lives.
Birthday numerology is used to reduce your birth date to a vibratory number by adding the day of the month, the number of the month and all the number that make up the year in the date you are wanting a number symbol for.
To reduce a date in order to get its single vibratory number, simply follow this formula:
Day + Month + Year = Single Vibratory Number
For example, a person born today will have 03/11/2012 as his birthday. To get his vibratory number, we add 0+3+1+1+2+0+1+2= 10= 1+0=1. So, 1 it's his vibratory number.
Number 1: Reflects strong will, positivity, pure energy and purity. It wants new beginnings, physical and mental action. So, it represents an exertion to the natural forces to take action and start a new venture.
Number 2: The symbolic meaning of number Two is kindness, balance, tact, equalization, and duality. The number Two reflects a quiet power of judgment, and the need for planning.
Number 3: The spiritual meaning of number Three deals with magic, intuition, fecundity, and advantage. The number Three invokes expression, versatility, and pure joy of creativity. It is also a time identifier as it represents Past, Present and Future.
Number 4: The meaning of number Four deals with stability and invokes the grounded nature of all things. Consider the four seasons, four directions, four elements... It represents solidity, calmness, home, a need for persistence and endurance.
Number 5: The spiritual meaning of number Five deals with travel, adventure, motion, instability and unpredictability, and radical changes. The spiritual meaning of Five draws our attention to the wonder of life, and beckons us to appreciate the perception of chaos all around us.
Number 6: The symbolism behind number Six is legend, harmony, balance, sincerity, love, truth and enlightenment.
Number 7: Sevens deal with esoteric, scholarly aspects of magic. Representative of scholarly activities, mystery, and the focused search for esoteric meanings. Seven deals with the activation of imagination and manifesting results in our lives through the use of conscious thought and awareness.
Number 8: The symbolism backing number Eight deals largely with business, success, and wealth. This is due to the fact that Eight represents continuation, repetition, and cycles. It's like the snowball analogy: As it continues to roll, in gets bigger and bigger with each revolution.
Number 9: Nine represents attainment, satisfaction, accomplishment, and our success to achieve an influence in our circumstances. The spiritual meaning of number Nine deals with intellectual power, inventiveness, influence over situations and things.

Madame Tussaud
Marie Tussaud, age 42 |
Born in 1761, Marie Gresholtz, a maker of wax death masks, had modelled the author and philosopher Voltaire in 1777, and became art tutor to King Louis XVI’s sister in 1780. She lived at this time with the French court at Versailles, but returned to Paris in 1789.
After the French revolution of 1787, Marie was imprisoned in LaForce prison with aristocrats and other people associated with the regime. Here she shared a cell with the future Empress Josephine (Napoleon Bonaparte’s wife).
A year after her release in 1794, Marie married Frances Tussaud.
In 1802, she took her collection of wax masks of guillotined aristocrats and relics of the French revolution on a tour of Britain. In 1835, she established a base for the collection at the Baker Street bazaar in London.
The exhibition continued to grow as Madame Tussaud added to her collection models of English murderers and body snatchers. In 1846 Punch Magazine called it a "Chamber of horrors".
Madame Tussaud died in 1850. She was 88.
In 1884, her grandsons moved the exhibition to its current site on Marylebone Road. It was largely destroyed by fire, and rebuilt in the 1920s, and today it features models of sports personalities, musicians and film stars, statesmen from around the world and even the Royal Family.

Baby Allergy
Joanne Mackie, a 28-year old mother from Erdington, West Midlands, discovered, after giving birth to her first child, that she has a rare skin disease called Pemphigoid Gestationis, which makes her allergic to her own baby. Mackie developed serious rashes and painful blisters shortly after giving birth to her son, James. The welts in her skin were so excruciating that she could not hold her own baby and was forced to cover her arms with damp towels to protect them while she feeds him. The condition, which is said to affect one in 50,000 pregnancies, arises when antibodies that normally protect the placenta become confused and attack the skin, causing blisters to form.
Fortunately, a month after doctors treated her allergy using strong steroids, Mackie finally was able to hold her baby without feeling any pain.
Pemphigoid gestationis often appears in pregnancy during the second or third trimester and/or immediately after birth. It is usually treated with a course of corticosteroids like prednisone.

Nature & Co
Forests cover approximately 9.4% of the Earth’s surface. However, they once covered over 50%. Most people identify forests with trees, but the concept of the forest ecosystem reaches much further and includes many species, such as smaller plants, fungi, bacteria, insects, animals, as well as energy flow and nutrient cycling. Luckily, a large percentage of people on Earth are still able to enjoy the tranquility of an ancient forest. However, some people have never had the chance to enter one of these majestic plant communities. Almost 80% of Europe’s forests are owned by Russia.
As you step foot into an old growth forest, the rush of fresh air fills your lungs. Your senses perk up and you become aware of the life that surrounds you. In the forest, you never know what is waiting around the corner. In the forest, you will discover and witness new things for the first time. In the forest, you will come to peace with nature. In the forest, you will escape the world of technology and learn what it was like to live off the land. This article will examine ten strange and unique forests.

The Big Six
Kidneys, heart, liver, pancreas, lungs, and intestines—These are the primary organs that most of us think of when the subject of organ donation is brought up. And rightly so, these are the organs that represent the greatest need in the waiting lists around the world. These organs must be transplanted within hours, there is no way to store these organs for viable use later. Not so, when it come to tissue donation. According to OrganDonor.gov “Corneas, the middle ear, skin, heart valves, bone, veins, cartilage, tendons, and ligaments can be stored in tissue banks and used to restore sight, cover burns, repair hearts, replace veins, and mend damaged connective tissue and cartilage in recipients.” With the proper preparation and foresight, one death can help over 50 others to begin their return to health.

Organisms are always getting better?
While it is a fact that natural selection weeds out unhealthy genes from the gene pool, there are many cases where an imperfect organism has survived. Some examples of this are fungi, sharks, crayfish, and mosses – these have all remained essentially the same over a great period of time. These organisms are all sufficiently adapted to their environment to survive without improvement.
Other taxa have changed a lot, but not necessarily for the better. Some creatures have had their environments changed and their adaptations may not be as well suited to their new situation. Fitness is linked to their environment, not to progress.
